Willy-Brandt-Straße
An extensive modernisation of and extension to an existing office and commercial building is being done at 70 Willy-Brand-Straße in the centre of Hamburg.
The complex, made up of two buildings, will turn this site near the Nikolai monument into a representative business adress. Neighbouring offices of companies include Hamburg-Süd (shipping) and Condor (insurance group), as well as Allianz, Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank.
Amongst other things, a seven-storey building is planned as an extension, as well as the addition of a top floor to connect both buildings. Furthermore, the existing buildings will be stripped down to the very core for a complete renovation and will then be given a uniform and modern facing in order to compete with state-of-the-art office property. The ground floor will contain generous retail space and an imposing foyer; the total surface area will be around 6,600 m².
The office building occupies a very attractive, highly frequented site on Willy-Brandt-Straße, the major east-west axe of central Hamburg. It is within easy walking distance of the city centre and Rödingsmarkt underground station. Willy-Brandt-Straße also provides a quick link to the Hamburg motorway system.
Construction work has been started in the first quarter of 2009 and should take fourteen months to be completed.
The building complex has been sold in March 2009 to a private investor.
